Building the dream

The Residential School

A permanent home and an arts-based school on land of our own, reached in three steps.

A field of maize growing tall under a blue sky on land farmed by Desire Child Care

The three steps

Phase one

Sponsorship and clean water

All 33 Desire Kids are now sponsored.

One of our continuous goals is to generate a stream of monthly sponsorships so that we can move on to Phase 2 of our development plan toward self-sufficiency. Because of the current structural obstacles in Uganda, including food shortages, lack of clean drinking water, malaria and typhoid, we are challenged to meet each crisis as it comes, with very rare opportunities to build a surplus of funds to see us through the year without great stress.

Now that we have achieved Indigenous NGO status, donations can be made securely. Thanks to our patron, Folklore LLC, monthly automatic credit card donation is now a reality.

Set up monthly support

Phase two

Farm land

$50,000

Now that we have achieved our Phase One priorities, we would like to set up a small 4 acre farm so that Bugingo can move from the city and devote 100% of his time and energy to farming and caring for the children's needs. He is an accomplished, professional farmer, and will, with his crops and livestock, sustain the children and sell produce as a means of income for himself, his mum, and Desire Child Care Organization.

It would be so helpful to have the capacity to grow their own food during the current shortages in Uganda.

Phase three

Building the dream

A school

A Desire Child Care residential arts-based school, where our children and future Desire Kids can be raised joyfully in nature, in a loving family environment, learn important skills, and look to the future with confidence and hope.
